Fort Stevens – Battery Lewis, Battery Walker, Battery Mishler

Battery Lewis, Battery Walker, and Battery Mishler comprised the West Battery.  In 1918, the four guns of Lewis and Walker were shipped to France.

In 1941, the gun pits of Battery Mishler were covered, and the bunker served as the Harbor Defense Command Post during World War II.  Guided tours are sometimes available by flashlight.
