It seems like we’ve had an unusual number of cold, clear days this winter (but I probably say this every winter), with lows around 20 degrees and highs only in the 30’s. Some of my plants have really taken a beating. The banana keeled over the other day, poor thing. The deciduous plants have all died off, but most of the evergreens in the west garden still look pretty good, actually.

Many of the bulbs are starting to come up, should be a good show. I sprinkled out some bulb food for them the other day. Also went around clearing out dead branches and leaves and flowerheads and such in the garden. Some of the plants that died back in the fall are beginning to peek up out of the ground again.
