Price Increased Again

Noticed that the house next door is no longer in the listings, but the sign is still out front.  Have they actually sold it?  Probably just taking it off the market and waiting until spring to re-list… like everyone else in the country.

Well, it’s back on the market after about a month off, and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the listing price: $230,000!

Ok let’s just recap a little here.  Back in July they first put the house on the market, asking $225,900.  About a month later, they lowered the price to $215,900.  Three months later, they lowered it to $199,900.  Then they took it off the market for a month, during which time they added “new carpet and paint”, and now they’re listing it for $230,000.  Five months have gone by, with a $26,000 drop in price, and they couldn’t sell the place.  But a little carpet and paint warrants a $30,000 jump from the last listing price?  Riiiight.

On one hand, I hope some sucker buys into that price, since it would be good for the resale value of my home.  But on the other hand, I hope they keep reducing the price again over the next six months because they can’t sell it.  Ah, it’s a vindictive quandary.
